Top critical review
Slow, no watchlist and buggy.
31 July 2019
This app seems to require wired internet at a fibre level download speed to even be functional without freezes and severe distortion when there's too much movement on screen.
For a Disney app that is new and trying to compete with large competitors like Netflix and Amazon Prime it offers little to draw people in, the interface is outdated before it even began, the content itself seems to have little to no order and there's no way to create your own watchlist to save certain things you prefer watching or plan to watch, nor is there any personalisation of any sort based upon what you watch. For good measure the settings section of the app has no settings you can actually change either, should you wish to choose quality settings and wait for the movie to buffer at that quality that's not an option either.
The titles that are available are all relatively old with anything too new not easily being available so they can still capitalize on dvd sales and whatnot, Coco (2017) for example was nowhere to be seen despite being two years old at this point.
I think that the DisneyLife app is currently the worst available entertainment app. Generally this seems to just be a thoughtless attempt to get people into a Disney subscription without much effort put in into making it worthwhile. Disney movies are classics, go grab them on dvd and pull them out ten years from now to rewatch - as it stands the subscription to Disneylife just isn't worth it.
